- Small plastic cups, scoops, or a turkey baster/water dropper
- 1 Paper plate (or round piece of paper) per child
- Yellow and orange washable paint, paint sticks, or crayons
- 1 Large towel for easy cleanup

Activity: The Sunshine & Ice Hello Song
Gather on a towel on the floor or outside in the sunshine. Hold up a bright yellow circle or point to the sun outside.
Adult Talking Points (3-Year-Old Level):
"Look up! Look up! What is that big, bright yellow circle in the sky? It's the SUN! Sun says: Hello! Summer is here! Summer means sunny days and cool splashy water. Feel your cheeks... are they warm from the sun? Warm, warm sun!"
Hands-On Hook: Pass the child a single cold ice cube on a small plate.
Adult Talking Points:
"Touch this ice! Ooh, brrr! Is it warm like the sun? No, it's COLD! Let's say: Cold ice! Warm sun! Let's go make a big splash!"
2. Body: Content & Active Practice (20-25 Mins)
Step A: "I Do" - Warm Water & Melting Ice Demonstration (5 mins)
Instructional Steps:
- Set the water bin on top of the towel.
- Show the child a colored ice cube. Drop it gently into the water bin.
- Demonstrate squeezing a sponge over the ice.
Say: "Watch me! I put the cold ice into warm water. Splash! Look, I take my sponge... dip, dip, dip... and SQUEEZE! Water drops out! The warm water makes the ice melt away. Bye-bye, ice!"
Step B: "We Do" - Water Squeeze & Scoop Game (10 mins)
Guided Interactive Practice:
Invite the child to play in the water bin together. Guide their hands as needed to build fine motor muscles.
- Challenge 1 (Sponge Squeeze): "Can you dip your sponge, hold it up high, and squeeze all the water into this cup?"
