Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to identify and describe different types of horses, and understand basic horse-related vocabulary.

Materials and Prep

  • Pictures or toy horses
  • Whiteboard or paper and markers
  • Horse-related books or stories
  • Printed horse coloring pages

Activities

  1. Introduce the topic of horses by showing pictures or toy horses to the student. Ask them what they already know about horses and engage in a discussion.

  2. Read a horse-related book or story together. Pause at certain points to ask questions and encourage the student to make predictions about what will happen next.

  3. After reading, discuss the story and ask the student to retell it in their own words. Encourage them to use descriptive language and engage their imagination.

  4. Introduce horse-related vocabulary words such as "mane," "hooves," and "saddle." Write these words on the whiteboard or paper and discuss their meanings. Have the student practice saying the words out loud.

  5. Provide the student with printed horse coloring pages and crayons. Encourage them to color the horses creatively and talk about the colors they choose.
