Lesson Activities:

Introduction: Our Big World! (5 mins)

Let's look at this amazing map/globe! Our world is made up of many different pieces called countries. Just like we have a special city where important things happen in our area, countries have special cities too, called capitals! Can you point to a country on the map?

Capital Letter Hunt (10 mins)

Let's look at some country names! (Show country flashcards one by one). What letter does this country start with? (e.g., 'U' for USA). Now let's look at its special capital city! (Show matching capital flashcard). What letter does this city start with? (e.g., 'W' for Washington D.C.). Let's focus on those big starting letters - the capital letters!

Matching Capitals Game (10 mins)

Let's mix up our cards! Can you help me match the country card to its correct capital city card? We can look at the map to help us remember. Let's say the names together: 'USA' goes with 'Washington D.C.', 'France' goes with 'Paris'. Great matching!

Capital City Creations (10 mins)

Let's pick one country and its capital we learned about (e.g., France and Paris). Can you draw something that reminds you of Paris? Maybe a tall tower or a yummy croissant? After drawing, let's practice writing the big capital letter 'P' for Paris near your drawing.

Wrap-up: Capital Cheer! (5 mins)

Wow! We learned about some exciting places today! Let's say the capitals we learned one more time: Washington D.C., Paris, Tokyo, Cairo! You did a fantastic job being a world explorer today!
