Materials and Prep
- Books or online resources about chickens
- Writing materials (pencils, crayons, paper)
- Optional: Pictures or illustrations of chickens
Activities
- Read a book or explore online resources about chickens together. Discuss the different features and characteristics of chickens.
- Ask the student to draw a picture of a chicken, labeling its body parts (head, beak, wings, feathers, legs, etc.). Encourage creativity and accuracy.
- Discuss the habitat of chickens. Ask the student to imagine and draw a picture of a chicken's ideal home, including elements like a coop, nesting boxes, and an outdoor area.
- Have a conversation about what chickens need to survive and be healthy. Help the student create a simple list of a chicken's basic needs, such as food, water, shelter, and protection from predators.
- Ask the student to write or dictate a short sentence or two about what they find interesting or fascinating about chickens. Encourage them to use descriptive words and complete sentences.
