Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to understand the importance of making healthy choices when it comes to candies.
Materials and Prep
- A variety of candies (preferably different types and colors)
- A piece of paper and a pencil
- Access to a computer or tablet for research (optional)
Before starting the lesson, make sure you have a basic understanding of different types of candies and their ingredients.
Activities
- Sorting Candies: Sort the candies into two groups - healthy and unhealthy. Explain why you think each candy belongs in a specific group.
- Design Your Own Candy: Imagine you have the power to create a new candy. Draw and describe your candy, including the color, shape, and flavor. Think about what ingredients you would use to make it healthy.
- Healthy Candy Research: Using a computer or tablet (if available), research different types of candies that are considered healthier alternatives. Write down the names of three candies you find and why they are healthier choices.
- Healthy Candy Swap: Choose one of the healthier candies you discovered during your research. If possible, ask a family member or friend if they would be willing to swap a piece of their unhealthy candy for your healthier choice. Explain why your candy is a better option.
