Materials and Prep

  • Autumn-themed picture books
  • Colorful leaves (real or artificial)
  • Large piece of paper or whiteboard
  • Markers or crayons

Activities

  1. Read an autumn-themed picture book together and discuss the changes that happen in nature during this season.
  2. Take a nature walk outside and collect colorful leaves. Talk about the different colors and shapes you find.
  3. Create a fall-themed drawing or collage using the leaves you collected. Discuss how trees lose their leaves during autumn.
  4. Draw a large tree on the paper or whiteboard. Use the markers or crayons to add leaves to the tree, showing the different colors of autumn. Talk about how trees change during this season.
  5. Wrap up the lesson by reviewing what you learned about autumn and its connection to Earth Science.
