Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to write a short creative story based on Minecraft.
Materials and Prep
- Paper
- Pencils or crayons
- Minecraft-themed stickers or pictures (optional)
Activities
Brainstorming: Start by asking the student to think about their favorite Minecraft character or adventure. Encourage them to share their ideas and describe what they like about it.
Story Planning: Help the student organize their thoughts by creating a simple story map. Draw a line down the center of a piece of paper. On one side, have them write or draw the beginning of their story, including the setting and characters. On the other side, have them write or draw the middle and end of the story, focusing on the problem and resolution.
Writing the Story: Using the story map as a guide, have the student write their Minecraft story. Encourage them to use descriptive words and details to make the story more interesting.
Illustrating the Story: After writing the story, give the student the option to illustrate their story with drawings or stickers. This will help bring their story to life.
Sharing and Celebrating: Allow the student to share their story with you or other family members. Praise their creativity and effort, and encourage them to continue writing and exploring their imagination through stories.
Kindergarten Grade Talking Points
"Today, we are going to use our imagination to write a story about Minecraft. Can you tell me about your favorite Minecraft character or adventure?"
"Let's plan our story. We will start by thinking about the beginning, where the story takes place and who the characters are. Can you draw or write about it?"
"Now, let's think about the middle and end of the story. What problem will the characters face? How will they solve it? Draw or write about it on the other side of your paper."
"Great job planning! Now, let's use our plans to write our Minecraft story. Remember to use lots of details and descriptive words to make it interesting."
"If you want, you can also add pictures or stickers to illustrate your story. This will make it even more fun and colorful!"
"Finally, let's share our stories with each other. I can't wait to hear what you came up with. Remember, every story is unique and special!"
