Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to create various clay sculptures using only clay as your medium.

Materials and Prep

  • Clay (any type)
  • A clean work surface
  • Water (for moistening clay if needed)
  • A plastic knife or clay tools (optional)

Before starting the lesson, make sure to wash your hands and have a designated area to work with clay.

Activities

  1. Knead the clay to make it soft and pliable.
  2. Decide on a theme or object you want to create with clay.
  3. Start molding and shaping the clay to form your desired sculpture.
  4. If needed, use water to moisten the clay and smooth out any rough edges.
  5. Add details and textures using your fingers or clay tools (if available).
  6. Let your clay sculpture air dry completely before painting or decorating it.
