Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to demonstrate library skills related to the Boxcar Children series.

Materials and Prep

  • Boxcar Children books
  • Library card (if available)
  • Pencil and paper

Activities

  1. Visit your local library or use an online library catalog to search for Boxcar Children books.

    Write down the titles and call numbers of at least three Boxcar Children books you find.

  2. Using the call numbers you found, locate the Boxcar Children books on the library shelves or in the online catalog.

    Take note of the different sections or categories where the books are located.

  3. If you have a library card, check out one or more Boxcar Children books.

    If not, write down the due dates for the books you found.

  4. Read one of the Boxcar Children books you checked out or found.

    Take notes on the main characters, setting, and plot of the story.

  5. Write a short book review or summary of the Boxcar Children book you read.

    Include your favorite part of the story and why you would recommend it to others.
