Activities
- Introduction: Show the pictures or illustrations of pecan trees and orchards. Discuss what the student sees and ask them if they know what kind of trees these are.
- Discussion: Explain that these are pecan trees and they grow in pecan orchards. Talk about how pecans are nuts that come from these trees and are used in many different ways.
- Drawing Activity: Give the student the large piece of paper or whiteboard and markers or crayons. Ask them to draw their own pecan tree and orchard. Encourage them to be creative and add details.
- Sensory Exploration (optional): If you have pecans available, let the student touch and feel them. Talk about their texture and shape. You can also crack open a few pecans and show the student the inside.
- Conclusion: Summarize what the student has learned about pecan orchards. Ask them if they have any questions or if there's anything they would like to add to their drawing.
