Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to understand and apply basic library skills for personal knowledge management.

Materials and Prep

  • Books or magazines from your personal collection
  • A notebook or journal
  • A pen or pencil

Before starting this lesson, make sure you have a quiet and comfortable space to work in.

Activities

  1. Start by exploring your personal collection of books or magazines. Look at the covers, flip through the pages, and choose one that catches your attention.
  2. Once you have chosen a book or magazine, find a comfortable spot to sit and read. Spend some time reading and enjoying the content. Take note of any interesting facts or ideas that you come across.
  3. After reading, take out your notebook or journal and write down the title of the book or magazine, the author (if available), and a brief summary of what you learned or enjoyed about the reading.
  4. Next, think about how you can organize your personal knowledge. You can create categories or sections in your notebook to keep track of different topics or subjects. For example, you can have a section for animals, another for space, and so on.
  5. Using your pen or pencil, create a table of contents at the beginning of your notebook. Write down the different categories or sections you want to include.
  6. As you continue reading and learning, add new entries to your notebook under the appropriate categories. This will help you easily find and review the information later on.
