Discuss with your student the different ways quotation marks are used in writing, particularly when showing conversations between characters. Emphasize the use of quotation marks to indicate direct speech.
Provide your student with the English literature book and instruct them to complete the exercise called "Fix It" on page 28 of the artist work book. This exercise will involve identifying and correcting dialogue that lacks proper quotation marks.
Have your student complete the exercise called "Day Two" on page 29 of the artist work book. This exercise will require them to write their own dialogue using quotation marks to indicate conversations between characters.
