Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to analyze and discuss a book at a second grade reading level.

Materials and Prep

  • A book of your choice
  • Paper
  • Pencil or pen

Activities

  1. Choose a book that you are interested in and comfortable reading.
  2. Take some time to select a book that you enjoy and can read independently.

  3. Read the book quietly to yourself.
  4. Find a comfortable spot and read the book silently, paying attention to the characters, setting, and events.

  5. Write a book review.
  6. After finishing the book, write a short review that includes your favorite part, a brief summary, and whether you would recommend it to others.

  7. Share your book review.
  8. Read your book review aloud to someone at home and explain why you enjoyed the book or why you think others should read it.
