Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to understand basic French vocabulary and phrases related to the TV show "The Amazing World of Gumball" and engage in simple conversations.

Materials and Prep

  • Computer or TV to watch episodes of "The Amazing World of Gumball" with French audio and subtitles
  • Pen and paper for note-taking
  • Printed vocabulary list (provided below)

Activities

  1. Watch an episode of "The Amazing World of Gumball" in French with English subtitles. Pay attention to the characters' names and some common phrases used.

  2. Take notes of any new French vocabulary or phrases you hear while watching the episode. Write down the English translation next to each word or phrase.

  3. Review the vocabulary list provided below and practice pronouncing the words and phrases aloud.

  4. Try to have a simple conversation with someone in French using the vocabulary and phrases you have learned. You can pretend to be characters from "The Amazing World of Gumball" or create your own dialogue.

  5. Watch another episode of "The Amazing World of Gumball" in French, this time without subtitles. See how much you can understand and pick up on.
