Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to improve their reading skills by engaging in activities related to their interests in Minecraft and Legos.

• Minecraft or Lego-themed books
• Paper and pencils

Activities

1. Read a Minecraft or Lego-themed book together:

   • Choose a book that combines the student's interest in Minecraft or Legos with a reading level appropriate for first grade.
   • Take turns reading aloud, allowing the student to practice their reading skills.
   • Discuss the story, characters, and any new vocabulary encountered.

2. Create a Minecraft or Lego story:

   • Provide the student with paper and pencils.
   • Encourage them to write and illustrate their own Minecraft or Lego-themed story.
   • Assist with spelling and sentence structure as needed.
   • Once completed, have the student read their story aloud to you.

3. Build with Legos and describe the creations:

   • Allow the student to freely build with Legos.
   • Ask the student to describe their creations using descriptive language.
   • Encourage them to explain what they built, how it functions, and any unique features.
   • Take turns describing and guessing each other's creations.
