Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to analyze and comprehend a sports-related reading passage, and demonstrate understanding through written responses.

Materials and Prep

  • Reading passage about a sports event or athlete
  • Pen or pencil
  • Blank paper or notebook

Activities

  1. Read the sports-related passage provided. Take your time to understand the main ideas and details.

  2. Write a short summary of the passage. Include the main events or achievements mentioned.

  3. Identify and underline any unfamiliar words or phrases. Look up their meanings and write them down.

  4. Answer the following questions in complete sentences:

    • What was the most interesting part of the passage for you? Why?
    • How do you think the athlete or team felt during the sports event? Why?
    • What lessons can you learn from the athlete's or team's experience?
  5. Share your summary, vocabulary definitions, and answers with a family member or friend. Discuss your thoughts and compare your responses.
