Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to spell and recognize common words related to Minecraft.
Materials and Prep
- Paper and pencil
- Minecraft-themed flashcards (you can create your own by drawing or printing pictures)
Activities
-
Word Hunt: Write down the following Minecraft-related words on separate flashcards: creeper, diamond, sword, pickaxe, Steve, block, Enderman, zombie, crafting, and adventure. Hide the flashcards around the room or outdoor area. Your task is to find each flashcard and spell the word correctly as you find it. Take your time and enjoy the hunt!
-
Memory Game: Lay out all the flashcards facedown on a table. Turn over two cards at a time and try to find a matching pair. If you find a match, say the word out loud and spell it. If the cards don't match, turn them back over and try again. See how many pairs you can find and spell correctly!
-
Word Building: Choose one of the Minecraft-related words from the flashcards. Write the word on a piece of paper, leaving spaces between each letter. Use your flashcards as a reference and fill in the correct letters to complete the word. For example, if you choose the word "sword," you would write "_ _ _ _ _" and fill in the letters S, W, O, R, and D in the correct spaces.
