Lesson Activities:
Introduction (Circle Time):
"Hi! Today we're going to read a very special story from the Bible about the very first man and woman God created. Have you ever been in a beautiful garden? What kinds of things grow in a garden?" (Allow response). "God made a perfect garden called Eden for the first man, Adam, and the first woman, Eve."
Story Time:
Read the story of Adam and Eve from a children's Bible or simplified storybook. Use simple language:
- "God made a beautiful garden, full of yummy fruit trees and friendly animals."
- "He made the first man, Adam, and the first woman, Eve, to live there and take care of it."
- "God gave them only ONE rule: 'You can eat fruit from any tree, EXCEPT this one special tree in the middle of the garden. Don't eat that fruit!'"
- "Adam and Eve were happy, but one day a sneaky snake came and talked to Eve. The snake tricked Eve into eating the fruit from the special tree." (Whisper like a snake).
- "Eve gave some fruit to Adam, and he ate it too."
- "Oh no! They didn't listen to God. They disobeyed the one rule."
- "God was sad they didn't listen. Because they didn't follow the rule, they had to leave the beautiful garden."
Discussion & Questions:
- "Who were the first man and woman?" (Adam and Eve)
- "Who made the beautiful garden?" (God)
- "What was the ONE rule God gave them?" (Don't eat from the special tree)
- "Did they listen?" (No)
- "What happened when they didn't listen?" (They had to leave the garden)
- "Is it important to listen to God and our parents?" (Yes!)
Activity Time:
- Drawing Fun: Give the student paper and crayons. "Let's draw the Garden of Eden! Draw Adam and Eve, the trees, maybe the sneaky snake, or the special fruit." Talk about their drawing as they create it.
- Playdough Creation (Optional): Use playdough to make snakes, fruit shapes, or little figures of Adam and Eve.
Wrap-up:
"That was the story of Adam and Eve! They learned it's very important to listen to God's rules. We can learn from them too and try our best to listen to God and our family. Great listening today!"
