Activities

  1. Begin by asking the student if they have ever heard of jail or seen it in movies or books. Encourage them to share their thoughts and observations.
  2. Explain that a jail is a place where people who break the law are sent as a consequence for their actions.
  3. Discuss why it is important to have rules in a community and how breaking rules can affect others.
  4. Ask the student to imagine a scenario where someone steals a toy from a friend. Discuss the consequences of such action and how it can make the friend feel sad or upset.
  5. Explain that jail is a place where people who break rules that are more serious are sent to reflect on their actions and to keep others safe.
  6. Engage the student in a pretend play activity where they can be a police officer and explain to their toys or stuffed animals why breaking rules is not acceptable.
  7. Encourage the student to ask questions and clarify any doubts they may have about the concept of jail.
