Materials and Prep

  • Textbook: Worldviews: Conflict and Change Chapter One
  • Notebook or paper for taking notes
  • Pen or pencil

Activities

  1. Read Chapter One: Start by reading Chapter One of the textbook, "Understanding Worldviews." Take notes on key concepts and ideas.
  2. Discussion: Reflect on the reading and discuss the following questions:
    • What is a worldview?
    • How do worldviews shape our perspectives and beliefs?
    • Can you think of any examples of conflicts arising from differences in worldviews?
  3. Worldview Analysis: Choose two different worldviews from the chapter and create a Venn diagram to compare and contrast their beliefs, values, and attitudes. Use the information from the textbook to support your analysis.
  4. Case Study: Read a real-life case study or news article that involves a conflict arising from differences in worldviews. Analyze the case study and discuss how the clash of worldviews contributed to the conflict.

  • "Understanding worldviews is important because it helps us develop empathy, tolerance, and the ability to navigate conflicts peacefully."
