Start by introducing the student to the art of crocheting. Explain that crochet is a form of needlework using a crochet hook and yarn to create fabric or decorative items. Show examples of crochet projects and discuss the different types of stitches.
Show the student how to hold the crochet hook and yarn correctly. Demonstrate how to make a slipknot and how to hold the yarn to begin crocheting. Guide the student in practicing the basic chain stitch.
Teach the student how to make single crochet stitches. Explain the steps and demonstrate the technique. Allow the student to practice making single crochet stitches until they feel comfortable.
Guide the student in starting a simple crochet project, such as a coaster or a small pouch. Provide instructions on how to create the desired shape using the single crochet stitch. Encourage the student to be creative with colors and patterns.
Show the student how to finish off their crochet project by fastening off the yarn. Help them trim any excess yarn and secure the end. Congratulate the student on completing their first crochet project!
