Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to spell words related to Minecraft correctly.

Materials and Prep

• Paper
• Pencil or pen
• Minecraft-themed spelling word list (created by the teacher)

Prior knowledge: Familiarity with Minecraft and basic spelling skills.

Activities

1. Create a Minecraft Word Bank

   Together with the student, brainstorm a list of Minecraft-related words. Write them down on a piece of paper. Encourage the student to think of nouns, verbs, and adjectives related to the game.

2. Spelling Practice

   Using the Minecraft Word Bank, select five words and write them on separate pieces of paper. Shuffle the papers and place them face down. Take turns picking a word and spelling it out loud. If the word is spelled correctly, the player keeps the card. If not, it goes back in the pile. The player with the most cards at the end wins.

3. Create Minecraft Sentences

   Choose three words from the Minecraft Word Bank and challenge the student to use them in a sentence. Encourage creativity and make sure the sentences make sense. Write down the sentences and review them together, checking for correct spelling.

4. Spelling Scavenger Hunt

   Hide small Minecraft-related objects or pictures around the house. Give the student a list of words from the Minecraft Word Bank and ask them to find the corresponding objects or pictures. As they find each item, they should spell out the word aloud.
