Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to create a book report for a chosen book, including a summary, characters, and your favorite part.

Materials and Prep

  • A book of your choice
  • Paper and pencil
  • Access to a computer (optional)

Activities

  1. Choose a book that you would like to create a book report on. It can be a book you have recently read or one that you are currently reading.

  2. Start by writing a summary of the book. Think about the main events and the problem or conflict in the story. Remember to keep it brief and focus on the important parts.

  3. Next, write about the characters in the book. Who are the main characters? What are their personalities like? What are their roles in the story? Include any interesting or important details about them.

  4. Finally, share your favorite part of the book. Was there a specific scene or event that you enjoyed the most? Explain why it was your favorite and what made it special.

  5. If you have access to a computer, you can type your book report using a word processing program. Otherwise, neatly write it out on paper.

  6. Once you have completed your book report, read it aloud to a family member or friend. They can provide feedback and ask you questions about the book.
