Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to identify and describe dragons in a reading context.

Materials and Prep

  • Paper and crayons/markers
  • Pictures or books about dragons
  • Pencil

Activities

  1. Introduce the concept of dragons to the student. Show them pictures or read a short story about dragons.

  2. Engage the student in a discussion about dragons. Ask questions like:

    • What do dragons look like?
    • Where do dragons live?
    • What do dragons eat?
    • Can dragons fly?
  3. Encourage the student to draw their own dragon. Provide them with paper and crayons/markers. Let them be creative and use their imagination.

  4. Ask the student to describe their dragon. Prompt them with questions like:

    • What color is your dragon?
    • How many heads does your dragon have?
    • What special abilities does your dragon have?
  5. Write down the student's description of their dragon. Help them with spelling and encourage them to use descriptive words.
