Activities
- Introduce the concept of Dia de los Muertos and explain its significance in Mexican culture. Discuss how it is a time to remember and honor loved ones who have passed away.
- Show examples of ofrendas and explain their purpose. Discuss the different elements typically included on an ofrenda, such as pictures, favorite foods, and personal belongings of the deceased.
- Have the student gather materials and begin creating their own ofrenda. Encourage them to include pictures of loved ones, drawings, and any small objects or mementos that hold special meaning.
- Once the ofrenda is complete, have the student explain the significance of each element they included and why it is important to honor their loved ones.
- Display the finished ofrenda in a special place and encourage the student to share stories and memories of the individuals they are honoring.
