Objective
By the end of this lesson, the first-grade student will be able to identify and name at least five US presidents and understand their role in American history.
Materials and Prep

- Blank index cards or small pieces of paper

- Optional: A book about US presidents for reference
Activities

Introduce the concept of US presidents to the student. Show them pictures or illustrations of different presidents and briefly explain their role as leaders of the country.

Ask the student to choose five presidents they find interesting or want to learn more about.

Write the names of the chosen presidents on separate index cards or pieces of paper.

Help the student research and gather information about each president. They can use books or online resources if available.

Encourage the student to write or draw important facts or characteristics of each president on their respective index cards.

Review the information together, discussing the key points about each president.

Play a memory game with the index cards. Lay them face down and take turns flipping two cards at a time, trying to match the president's name with the corresponding facts.

Conclude the lesson by discussing the student's favorite president and why they find them interesting.
