Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to understand basic geography concepts by exploring different biomes in Minecraft.
Materials and Prep
- A computer or tablet with Minecraft installed
- A notebook or paper and pencil
- Prior knowledge of how to play Minecraft
Activities
- Start Minecraft and create a new world.
- Explore different biomes.
- Take notes.
- Discuss the biomes.
Begin by explaining to the student that they will be exploring different biomes in Minecraft. Ask them to start a new world and name it something related to geography.
Encourage the student to explore the different biomes available in the Minecraft world. As they travel through each biome, have them describe the characteristics they observe, such as the landscape, vegetation, and weather.
Have the student keep a notebook or paper nearby to jot down their observations about each biome. They can draw pictures or write short descriptions.
After exploring several biomes, sit down with the student and review their notes. Ask them questions about what they observed and help them make connections between the biomes and real-world geography.
