Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to apply arithmetic concepts to solve Pokemon-themed math problems.
Materials and Prep
- Paper and pencil
- Pokemon cards or pictures (optional)
Activities
-
Pokemon Addition:
Create your own Pokemon-themed addition problems. For example, if Pikachu has 3 Pokeballs and catches 5 more, how many Pokeballs does Pikachu have in total? Write down the problem and solve it using addition.
-
Pokemon Subtraction:
Imagine you have 10 Pokemon cards and you give away 3 of them. How many Pokemon cards do you have left? Write down the problem and solve it using subtraction.
-
Pokemon Counting:
Choose a few Pokemon cards or pictures. Count how many Pokemon you have and write down the number. Then, count how many of a specific type of Pokemon you have (e.g., fire-type, water-type) and write down the number. Compare the two numbers and discuss which type of Pokemon you have more of.
