Objective
By the end of this lesson, the first grade student will be able to engage in Halloween-themed physical activities while learning about the importance of staying active and healthy.
Materials and Prep
- Halloween-themed costumes or props (optional)
- Open space for movement
Activities
-
"Monster Freeze Dance": Play Halloween-themed music and have the student dance freely. When the music stops, they must freeze in a Halloween pose. Encourage creativity and movement.
-
"Pumpkin Relay Race": Set up a start and finish line. Place a small pumpkin or a pumpkin-shaped object at the starting line. The student must run to the pumpkin, pick it up, and race back to the finish line. Time the student and encourage them to beat their own record.
-
"Spider Web Obstacle Course": Use masking tape to create a spider web-like pattern on the floor. The student must navigate through the web without touching the tape. Encourage them to crawl, jump, or tiptoe to avoid the "spider web."
