Objective
By the end of this lesson, the preschool student will be able to speak and understand basic Spanish words and phrases related to daily activities.
Materials and Prep
- Flashcards with pictures of common activities
- Whiteboard or large paper
- Markers or colored pencils
- Printed worksheets for coloring
No prior knowledge of Spanish is required.
Activities
- Introduce the vocabulary: Show the flashcards one by one and say the Spanish word for each activity. Repeat the words multiple times and encourage the student to repeat after you.
- Practice pronunciation: Have the student repeat the words again, focusing on correct pronunciation. Use exaggerated gestures and facial expressions to make it fun and engaging.
- Matching game: Lay out the flashcards on a table or the floor. Call out a word in Spanish and ask the student to find the corresponding flashcard. Repeat this several times, gradually increasing the speed.
- Coloring activity: Give the student a printed worksheet with the outline of different activities. Ask them to color each activity while saying its name in Spanish. This will reinforce the vocabulary and help with memorization.
- Role-play: Pretend to engage in different activities with the student. For example, say "Vamos a comer" (Let's eat) and act out eating together. Encourage the student to respond in Spanish and participate in the role-play.
