Talking Points
- Superhero stories often explore moral dilemmas and ethical questions, forcing characters to make difficult choices. For example, Batman's "no killing" rule raises questions about the value of life and the use of violence.
- Discuss the concept of the "greater good" and how superheroes often grapple with the idea of sacrificing a few to save many. Quotation: "With great power comes great responsibility" - Uncle Ben (Spider-Man).
- Explore the concept of identity and how superheroes often struggle with their dual lives. Quotation: "It's not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me" - Batman (Batman Begins).
- Discuss the role of justice and how superheroes act as symbols of justice in society. Quotation: "In a world of ordinary mortals, you are a wonder woman" - Queen Hippolyta (Wonder Woman).
- Encourage the student to think about the limitations and consequences of superpowers. Quotation: "With great power comes great responsibility" - Uncle Ben (Spider-Man).
- Discuss the concept of heroism and what it means to be a hero. Quotation: "A hero can be anyone. Even a man doing something as simple and reassuring as putting a coat around a little boy's shoulders to let him know that the world hadn't ended" - Batman (The Dark Knight Rises).
