Materials and Prep
- A computer or tablet with Minecraft installed
- Pen and paper
- Access to a dictionary or online spelling resources
Activities
-
Word Building Challenge:
Choose a Minecraft-related word, such as "creeper" or "diamond". Write it down on a piece of paper. Now, using the letters from that word, challenge yourself to create as many new words as possible. For example, from "creeper" you can make "peer", "creep", "pee", "re", and so on.
-
Spelling Bee:
Ask a family member or a friend to join you in a Minecraft spelling bee. Take turns giving each other spelling words related to Minecraft. Use the dictionary or online resources to check if the spelled word is correct. Keep score and see who can spell the most words correctly.
-
Minecraft Story:
Imagine you are a character in the Minecraft world. Write a short story using at least five Minecraft-related words. Be sure to use correct spelling and punctuation. Once you finish writing, read your story aloud to someone in your family.
