Objective

By the end of this lesson, the toddler will be able to identify and name different characters from Fischer Price Little People, and engage in imaginative play based on the characters.

Materials and Prep

  • Fischer Price Little People toys
  • A designated play area

Activities

  • Introduce the Little People characters: Show the toddler the different Little People characters and their names. Encourage them to repeat the names after you.
  • Matching game: Place the Little People characters in a row and ask the toddler to find the matching pairs. For example, find the two characters wearing hats or find the two characters with blue shirts.
  • Storytelling: Use the Little People characters to create a simple story. Start by introducing a problem or situation and ask the toddler to help you solve it using the characters. Encourage them to use their imagination and come up with creative solutions.
  • Role-play: Let the toddler choose a Little People character and act out a scenario. For example, they can pretend to be a firefighter saving people or a teacher leading a classroom. Encourage them to use their words and engage in pretend play.

Toddler Grade Talking Points

  • "Look at these fun Little People toys! They have different names like Sarah, Michael, and Emma. Can you say their names too?"
  • "Let's play a matching game! Can you find two Little People characters that look the same? Maybe they have the same color clothes or the same type of hat."
  • "Now it's time to create a story with the Little People characters. We can make up a problem and use the characters to solve it. What do you think should happen?"
  • "It's your turn to be a Little People character! Choose one and let's pretend to be that character. What kind of adventure or role-play scenario can we imagine together?"
