Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to solve arithmetic problems related to Zelda and have a better understanding of how math can be applied in a fun and interactive way.

Materials and Prep

  • Pencil
  • Calculator (optional)
  • Printed Zelda-themed arithmetic worksheets (provided below)

Before starting the lesson, make sure you have a basic understanding of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Activities

  1. Warm-up: Zelda Number Hunt
  2. Hide a set of numbered Zelda-themed cards around the room. Ask the student to find the cards and arrange them in ascending order. Once they have found all the cards, they can solve simple arithmetic problems by using the numbers on the cards.

  3. Link's Arithmetic Quest
  4. Provide the student with a printed worksheet containing Zelda-themed arithmetic problems. Encourage them to solve the problems using the appropriate arithmetic operations. Make sure they show their work and explain their reasoning for each answer.

  5. Ganon's Challenge
  6. Create a set of challenging arithmetic word problems related to Zelda. These problems should require critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Present them to the student and guide them through the process of breaking down the problems, identifying the necessary operations, and finding the solutions.

  7. Mathematical Triforce
  8. Challenge the student to create their own Zelda-themed arithmetic problems. They can design a worksheet or write down the problems on separate cards. Encourage them to be creative and incorporate elements from the Zelda universe. Once they have created the problems, they can exchange them with a classmate or family member to solve.
