Activities
- Introduction: Start by discussing Halloween and its traditions. Show the flashcards or pictures of Halloween-related items and introduce their Mandarin Chinese names.
- Spooky Vocabulary: Teach the student some spooky vocabulary words in Mandarin Chinese, such as "鬼" (ghost), "å—瓜" (pumpkin), and "è™è " (bat). Practice pronouncing these words together.
- Costume Dress-Up: Encourage the student to dress up in a Halloween costume or use the provided props. Practice saying "我是一个 (insert costume)" (I am a/an (insert costume)) in Mandarin Chinese.
- Trick or Treat Game: Create a simple trick or treat game where the student can knock on the door or say "ä¸ç»™ç³–å°±æ£è›‹" (trick or treat) in Mandarin Chinese. You can take turns being the trick-or-treater and the person answering the door. Use the new vocabulary words in context.
- Ghost Drawing: Have the student draw a ghost on the whiteboard or paper. Teach them how to say "画一个鬼" (draw a ghost) in Mandarin Chinese.
- Song Time: Teach the student a Halloween-themed Mandarin Chinese song or nursery rhyme that incorporates the vocabulary words learned. Sing it together and have fun!
