Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to spell and recognize the names of different flowers.

Materials and Prep

  • Whiteboard or large paper
  • Markers or crayons
  • Flower flashcards or pictures (optional)

Activities

  1. Introduce different flowers: Begin by showing pictures or flashcards of various flowers to the student. Talk about the different colors, shapes, and sizes of the flowers.

  2. Spelling practice: Write the names of the flowers on the whiteboard or paper, leaving out a few letters. Ask the student to fill in the missing letters to complete the spelling of each flower. For example, if the flower is "rose," you can write "_ _ s _" and the student needs to fill in the missing letters.

  3. Matching game: Create a matching game by drawing or printing out pictures of different flowers and their names. Cut them into separate cards and mix them up. Ask the student to match each flower with its correct name.

  4. Flower spelling bee: Select a few flowers and ask the student to spell them out loud. Encourage them to use their phonetic knowledge to sound out the letters and form the correct spelling.
