By the end of this lesson, you will be able to activate your right brain while engaging in language arts and reading activities.

Materials and Prep

  • Blank paper
  • Crayons or colored pencils
  • A favorite storybook

No prior knowledge is required for this lesson. Just come with an open mind and a willingness to explore!

Activities

  1. Draw and Color

Start by drawing a simple picture on a blank piece of paper. It can be anything you like, such as a flower, a house, or an animal. Once you have your drawing, use your crayons or colored pencils to color it in. Be creative and use vibrant colors!

  2. Storybook Adventure

Choose your favorite storybook and find a quiet and comfortable spot to read. As you read the story, let your imagination run wild. Visualize the characters, settings, and events in your mind. Try to imagine how the story would look if it was a movie. Feel free to act out parts of the story or make sound effects to bring it to life!
