Materials and Prep

  • Paper or a notebook
  • Pencil or pen

No prior knowledge or preparation is required for this lesson.

Activities

  1. Choose a short passage or sentence that you would like to practice copying.
  2. It can be a line from your favorite book, a famous quote, or a sentence you create yourself.

  3. Write the chosen passage or sentence neatly at the top of your paper.
  4. Read the passage or sentence out loud.
  5. Start copying the passage or sentence below the original, paying close attention to letter formation, spacing, and punctuation.
  6. Continue copying the passage or sentence until you have completed it.
  7. Review your copywork and make any necessary corrections.
  8. Repeat the process with a different passage or sentence if desired.
