Objective
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to understand and participate in Gorilla tag, improving their physical fitness, coordination, and agility.
Materials and Prep
- Open space for physical activity
- Comfortable clothing and footwear
- Water bottle for hydration
Activities
-
Warm-up exercises: Begin with a 5-minute warm-up to prepare the body for physical activity. Include exercises such as jogging in place, jumping jacks, and arm circles.
-
Introduction to Gorilla tag: Explain the rules of Gorilla tag, where one student acts as the "gorilla" and tries to tag the other students. The gorilla can only move on all fours and can only tag other players by touching their shoulders. The other students must try to avoid getting tagged by running and using quick movements.
-
Practice Gorilla tag: Divide the open space into boundaries and let the students play Gorilla tag. Encourage them to use their agility and coordination to avoid getting tagged. Switch roles so that each student gets a chance to be the gorilla.
-
Cool-down exercises: End the lesson with a 5-minute cool-down period to gradually bring the heart rate back to normal. Include stretching exercises for the major muscle groups.
