Objective

By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the story of King Arthur and Guinevere, as well as develop language arts skills through reading and comprehension activities.

Materials and Prep

  • King Arthur and Guinevere storybook
  • Paper and pencil

Activities

  1. Read Aloud: Begin by reading the story of King Arthur and Guinevere from the storybook. Encourage the student to listen carefully and ask questions if needed.
  2. Retell the Story: After reading, ask the student to retell the story in their own words. This will help assess their comprehension and listening skills.
  3. Character Analysis: Discuss the main characters, King Arthur and Guinevere. Ask the student to describe their personalities and actions. Encourage them to use descriptive words and provide examples from the story.
  4. Draw and Write: Have the student choose a favorite scene from the story and draw a picture of it. Then, ask them to write a sentence or two describing the scene. This activity will promote creativity and writing skills.
  5. Sequencing: Provide the student with a set of picture cards depicting key events from the story. Ask them to arrange the cards in the correct order, retelling the story as they do so.
