Show the toddler the magnetic alphabet letters and explain that these are special letters that can stick to a magnetic surface. Demonstrate how the letters can be moved around and stuck to the surface.
Place a few magnetic alphabet letters on the magnetic surface. Say the name of a letter out loud and ask the toddler to find and point to the corresponding letter on the surface.
Choose a magnetic alphabet letter and say its name out loud. Ask the toddler to find and place the matching letter next to it on the magnetic surface.
Choose a simple word and spell it out using the magnetic alphabet letters. Ask the toddler to repeat the letters after you and then rearrange the letters to spell the word themselves.
