Fifth Grade Talking Points

  • "During the medieval period, which lasted from the 5th to the 15th century, people used a variety of weapons for battle."

  • "Swords were one of the most common weapons used by knights and warriors. They were typically made of iron or steel and were used for close combat."

  • "Axes were another popular weapon. They were often used by foot soldiers and had a sharp blade on one side and a spike on the other."

  • "Bows and arrows were essential for long-range attacks. Archers were highly skilled and could shoot arrows accurately over long distances."

  • "Catapults were large machines used to launch heavy objects, such as rocks or fireballs, at castle walls during sieges."

  • "Medieval weapons were effective in their time, but compared to modern weapons, they had limitations. For example, they required physical strength to wield and were less accurate than firearms."
