Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to read and understand a short story about Legos.
Materials and Prep
- Lego bricks
- A short story about Legos (can be found online or created by the teacher)
- Printed worksheets (optional)
Activities
- Introduction: Show the student a pile of Lego bricks and ask them what they know about Legos. Have a short discussion about Legos and their favorite things to build.
- Reading the Story: Read the short story about Legos to the student. Encourage them to listen carefully and ask questions if they don't understand something.
- Discussion: After reading the story, ask the student comprehension questions to check their understanding. For example, "What was the main character building with Legos?" or "Why did the main character feel proud of their creation?"
- Building Activity: Give the student a specific task to build something with the Lego bricks. For example, "Build a house using at least five different colors of bricks." This activity helps reinforce their understanding of the story and allows them to be creative.
- Writing Activity (optional): If the student is comfortable with writing, provide them with a worksheet where they can draw a picture of their Lego creation and write a sentence or two about it.
