Before the lesson, familiarize yourself with the book and prepare the construction paper cutouts of dump trucks.
Activities
- Read the book about dump trucks to the toddler, emphasizing the illustrations and discussing the different parts of the dump truck.
- After reading, ask the toddler to point to and name the different parts of the dump truck, such as the wheels, cab, and bed.
- Using the construction paper cutouts, have the toddler create their own dump truck by coloring the cutouts and assembling them with tape or glue.
- Encourage the toddler to describe their dump truck, using simple words and phrases to talk about the colors, shapes, and functions of each part.
- Have a pretend play activity where the toddler can use their dump truck to transport small objects (e.g., blocks or toy cars) and verbally explain what they are doing.
