Materials and Prep
- A pumpkin (real or fake)
- Construction paper
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- Markers or crayons
Prior knowledge: Familiarity with basic colors and shapes.
Activities
- Introduction: Show the pumpkin to the student and ask them to describe its color, shape, and size.
- Color Match: Cut out different shapes from the construction paper and ask the student to match each shape to the corresponding color of the pumpkin.
- Shape Hunt: Hide various shapes around the room and ask the student to find them. Once found, have them describe the shape and compare it to the pumpkin's shape.
- Size Sorting: Cut out different sizes of pumpkins from the construction paper. Ask the student to arrange them in order from smallest to largest or vice versa.
- Pumpkin Art: Give the student a piece of construction paper and have them draw a pumpkin using markers or crayons. Encourage them to add details like the stem and facial features.
