Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to create fall-themed artwork using various materials and techniques, while also gaining an appreciation for art.
Materials and Prep
- Construction paper (in fall colors like red, orange, yellow, and brown)
- Scissors
- Glue
- Markers or crayons
- Leaves (collected from outdoors)
- Newspapers or a tablecloth to protect your workspace
Before starting the lesson, make sure you have all the materials ready on a clean and protected workspace.
Activities
- Create a Fall Collage:
- Leaf Printing:
- Fall Tree Drawing:
Ask your child to cut out different shapes from the construction paper, such as leaves, pumpkins, and apples. Then, have them arrange and glue the shapes onto a larger piece of construction paper to create a fall-themed collage.
Take a leaf and place it on a sheet of construction paper. Use markers or crayons to gently rub over the leaf, creating a print. Experiment with different colors and leaf shapes to create unique prints.
Using brown construction paper, ask your child to draw the trunk and branches of a tree. Then, have them use their fingers or a sponge to dab red, orange, and yellow paint onto the branches to represent leaves. Encourage them to be creative and use different techniques to add texture and patterns to the tree.
