Objective

By the end of this lesson, the second-grade student will be able to understand and appreciate the culture and history of Native Americans.

Materials and Prep

  • Books or online resources about Native Americans
  • Paper and pencils
  • Art supplies (optional)

Activities

  1. Start by reading a book or exploring online resources about Native Americans. Discuss their culture, traditions, and history.

  2. Have the student create a drawing or write a short story that depicts a scene from Native American life. Encourage them to include details they learned about in the reading.

  3. Engage the student in a discussion about the importance of respecting and preserving Native American culture. Ask questions such as: "Why is it important to learn about and appreciate the culture of Native Americans?"

  4. Encourage the student to share their artwork or story with family members or friends to spread awareness and appreciation for Native American culture.
