Activities

  1. Introduction to Angles: Start by explaining what angles are and provide examples of different types of angles such as acute, right, and obtuse angles. Draw these examples on the paper and label them.
  2. Angle Hunt: Go on a scavenger hunt around your house or outdoor area to find objects with different angles. Draw the objects and label the angles you find.
  3. Geometric Sticks: Introduce the concept of geometric sticks by explaining that they are sticks of different lengths that can be joined to form various shapes. Using your ruler, measure and cut sticks of different lengths. Show how sticks can be joined to form triangles, squares, and rectangles. Allow the student to experiment with creating their own shapes using the sticks.
  4. Shape Sorting: Give the student a collection of shapes (cut out from paper or drawn) and ask them to sort the shapes into groups based on the number of angles they have. For example, triangles, squares, and rectangles would go in one group, while circles and ovals would go in another.
