Objective

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to identify and appreciate the artwork of Henry Matisse.

Activities

  1. Start by researching Henry Matisse online. Look for images of his artwork and read about his life as an artist.

  2. Choose one of Matisse's famous artworks and print it out or draw a simplified version of it on a piece of paper.

  3. Using your coloring materials, try to recreate the artwork in your own style. Don't worry about making it look exactly like the original; focus on using bold colors and simple shapes, just like Matisse did.

  4. Once you have finished coloring, compare your artwork with the original. Notice the similarities and differences.

  5. Share your artwork with a family member or friend, explaining what you have learned about Henry Matisse and why you appreciate his artwork.
