Objective
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to read and understand a story about a pumpkin patch.
Materials and Prep
- A pumpkin-themed storybook
- Paper and crayons
- Pumpkin-shaped cutouts or stickers (optional)
Activities
- Read the Story: Start by reading the pumpkin-themed storybook aloud to the student. Encourage them to follow along with the words and ask questions if they don't understand anything.
- Retell the Story: After reading the story, ask the student to retell the main events in their own words. This will help them practice comprehension and sequencing skills.
- Draw a Pumpkin Patch: Give the student paper and crayons, and ask them to draw a picture of a pumpkin patch based on their imagination or the description in the story. They can include pumpkins, vines, leaves, scarecrows, or anything else they think would be found in a pumpkin patch.
- Add Details: If you have pumpkin-shaped cutouts or stickers, let the student decorate their pumpkin patch drawing with them. They can stick the pumpkins onto the paper or use them as templates to draw additional pumpkins.
